Most of us are aware of the power of positive self-talk, but how often do we practice it in our daily lives? International bestselling author Rahul Badami talks about the importance of using affirmations on a regular basis to keep a clean, healthy mind.
You bathe your body every day.
You clean your home every day.
When was the last time you bathed your mind?
Do you realize that you need to clean your mind on a regular basis?
We like cleanliness in our home. We try to make sure that we and our families live in a clean environment. But have we ever opened our mind and looked inside to see if it’s clean?
We ensure that we have clean fresh food for our family. We would never desire harmful junk in our body. And the same diligence should be taken for what goes into our mind.
Our mind is constantly bombarded with information throughout the day. Most of the information is neutral or negative. From mainstream news to casual gossip to office politics to Whatsapp forwards, most of the stuff we consume hardly has any bearing on our lives. This information either doesn’t matter to us or it concerns us but we can’t do anything about it.
But many allow such information to enter their minds without putting in filters or gatekeepers. And this takes you away from your own dreams and direction in life.
When your mind is clogged with negative thoughts, it freezes you from taking action. If your mind is clogged up, the following self-talk will seem familiar:
“Who am I kidding? I can’t do this.”
“I’m not as good as them. Others are better at it than me.”
“I’ll never be able to live my dreams.”
“Why is life so unfair?”
Do you say something like the above to yourself? These are classic manifestations of a mind that hasn’t been cleaned in a long time.
Your mind has to be cleaned with positive thoughts every day. You have to clean it with thoughts that will empower you, encourage you and reaffirm your belief in yourself. One of the best ways to do this is by listening to Affirmations audio.
I started listening to affirmations years ago, and it has completely changed how I see myself. I’m now more confident and positive about myself and the world around me. Affirmations are, in essence, positive self-talk. And they are a great antidote to negative self-talk and negative feelings about oneself.
I created my own free affirmations audio to share with the world, and I have got great feedback for the same. You can download it here.
Some listeners asked me how long should they listen to the audio. The analogy of the mind and the body remains true for this too. When you don’t bathe your body, it starts to get dirty. So you have to keep bathing every day to keep your body clean. Similarly, you need to listen to the affirmations every day.
You do not stop bathing your body. Why should you stop bathing your mind?
Listen to Affirmations DAILY.
They will transform your life.

A little preachy but I like the analogy.
