It’s Not Me, It’s You – Is This The Most Common Kind Of Gaslighting?

The Most Common Kind Of Gaslighting Is Blaming

We are in the middle of a fight
And he is clearly at fault
But he turns around and yells
It’s not me, it’s you

I blink at him hard
Did I do something wrong again?
But when I stop to think
I realize I’ve done nothing of the sort

Repeat this a hundred times over
And my contemplation is a thing of the past
Now every time we have a fight
I apologize way before he calls me out

  1. My ex was the perfect example of the ‘it’s not me, it’s you’ syndrome. Luckily, I realized this before he could completely take over my mind. It’s scary how prevalent gaslighting has become these days. Thank God for gut feelings.
