Do you remember the good old days when you were a kid? You had very little responsibilities and believed in truth, beauty, and justice. Everyone got what they deserved and the saddest stories had happy endings. Life was simple back then and you couldn’t wait to grow up and conquer the world.
But now that you are an adult, you know that life’s not all sunshine and rainbows. On the contrary, it is unfair more often than not and will crush you if you let it. The world loses its shine once you grow up and see that it’s got more ugliness than beauty. And this is where you are at right now. You are tired of the world and its inhabitants and wish you could get away to some other planet, if only for a little while.
Friend, I feel your pain. I have been there myself and I know how hard it is to stay in a place you desperately want to leave. You are right to be disappointed – we live in times where it’s impossible not to. The world as we knew it has fallen to shambles and things are only growing worse by the day. So what can good people like you and I do about it?
Well, the first thing you need to do is reframe the way you see the world. Sure, it is dominated by capitalism, greed, violence, and hate. However, if you zoom in and look out for it, you will see that goodness still exists. Why, the world runs on love and compassion. All we need to do is appreciate the good, then create more of it.
Instead of complaining about the way things are, go out and do your bit to change them to the way you want them to be. Not only will this change the status quo, but it will also help keep the fire in you alive. And if you do it in the company of family and friends who feel the same way, you’ll feel much better. After all, you will be inspiring a mini-revolution.
That’s not all. You also have to find a passion or two to feed your soul. Figure out whatever it is you enjoy doing—whether it is writing, painting, or birdwatching—and keep some time aside every day to immerse yourself in it. Whenever the outside world gets too hard to handle, turn to your passion to find some peace and calm.
Lastly, know that no matter how badly you feel about the world, nothing is permanent. The world is going to grind to a halt one day and you are probably going to meet your maker sooner than that. So don’t take the ongoings of this earthly existence too seriously because, at the end of the day, us humans and all creation on our planet are going to turn to dust. The only thing you can do is try your best to leave this world a better place than you found it. Who knows, someday aliens might uncover and pay tribute to your legacy of hope and love.
That’s just the perfect way to practise living in today’s world!
I agree that nothing is permanent and that someday everything will come to an end. Best to just do what gives you happiness, share some happiness with others and wait till the day you have to leave this place.
I loved your post and this is precisely how I think, too! :)
Glad to know you and I have similar beliefs because you come across as a very sorted and wise person ☺️
This is bloody brilliant. Sharing.
Yay ♥️
