Let’s get straight to the point: I am a regular person. Okay, maybe I am being my usual self-deprecating self, but I am certainly no expert of any sort.
What I am is an individual who has seen how easy it is for us humans to fall in line with what we are taught, without ever questioning why. And I say this not as some high and mighty spectator, but as an old-time performer. It was not too long ago when I used to jump through hoops. Hoops that were set up by someone I didn’t even know.
It took a lot of time, effort and courage for me to fight societal norms and take incremental steps towards becoming the best a better version of me. And now, I want to show you how you can do it too. All you have to do is notice the clichés that we fall prey to when we treat them as absolute truths.
And once you realize that the smartest of us can—and do— fall prey to social conditioning, you will become self-aware. Which, in turn, will make you a happier person. After all, a happy person is one who makes choices in accordance with his or her personal beliefs. So why not find out which beliefs are your own, and which ones are thoughts planted in your mind? Isn’t it time you find out what you really want, not what someone else thinks you want? You owe yourself that much.
We’re a bunch of volunteers starting a new scheme in our community. Your website gave us some helpful information to work with. You have done a formidable activity and we are thankful to you.
It’s amazing how much distance and resistance there seems to be between where we are and where we want to be. It’s even more amazing how close we are to breaking through at every given moment. We push and push, and then we finally break through. Looking back it’s a total trip to realize how little was actually holding us back and how close we were all along. You just have to trust the process and keep on keeping on. When it’s your time, you’ll make it through.
There’s no qualification for “getting it”. Either you see it or you don’t. I’m super happy to see you do.
Keep on keeping on. I’ll be looking forward to your upcoming posts.
Thank you for your amazing comment. Especially loved the ‘trust the process’ bit.
PS Loved your latest post.
Living consciously is powerful stuff. Once we begin to own our choices, things can change very rapidly. Great luck with your adventure, Mahevash. :-)
It is. It is also daunting to know that you are quite in control of your life…you have no one to blame but yourself when things go wrong!
It’s come with its fair share of ups and downs…thank you :-)

Ur someone who is striving to b herself.however unconventional that might be.Pat on the back.
Thank you!
You’re wrong about one thing, though: you are anything but regular. In the way you think, speak, write and act, I see someone who’s a few steps ahead of “regular people” (whatever regular may mean exactly). And you don’t have to be an expert or scientist in order to be wise :)
Thanks! Glad you think so :)
Very true,
We should mould ourselves from our perspective not what others think about us.
Exactly! It’s difficult, but very much possible.
Wandering in this post, i remembered one other post which was going around in whatsapp
Here it is:
An experiment with monkeys.
