Today I am interviewing Ritvik Tuteja, an image consultant and soft skills trainer based in Pune, India. Ritvik and I have only interacted on social media, but being behind a screen has not dampened his charm, class, and vivacious persona one bit. Let’s hear it from Ritvik on why he does what he does for a living, the reason what’s on the inside doesn’t matter, and how one can enroll in his finishing school.
You started out your career in marketing and sales and today you are an image consultant and soft skills trainer. What inspired the switch?
Marketing and sales were the stepping stone to figuring out my personal brand. It was part of a journey where I was finding my calling. Today, I can proudly say that I have carved out my career by following my passion.
I have always been passionate about being a stage person. As an image consultant and soft skills trainer, I achieve my life purpose, which is to make people successful, change lives, and help make the world a better place.
Both image consulting and soft skills training can be life-changing experiences for an individual. Tell us about your most inspiring transformation story.
People are not very aware of what image consulting and soft skills consist of. I generally spend at least 30 minutes explaining to my clients what they are about to invest in before we begin. I have been blessed to be part of many transformation stories in my career as a soft skills trainer and image consultant.
Quite recently, I trained a Mumbai-based engineering company on team building. Once I told them the abbreviation of TEAM–Together Everyone Achieves More–we worked along these lines to enhance productivity. Today, each participant who was trained is producing efficient results, being unselfish, and working as a unit.
Regarding image consulting, well, I remember when the owner of an educational company asked me about my image consulting services when I was working on a soft skills assignment with them. When I told her what image consulting entailed, she was so excited that I became the image consultant for her and her partner. Today, they are able to make their clothing work for them. They now know how to influence their mindset with the right colors and see how clothing is essential to redefine oneself. They have even become my friends now since they consider this as a magical transformation.
True or false: it’s what on the inside that counts.
I believe what’s on the inside doesn’t count. Allow me to explain. If everything that was on the inside mattered, then we’d have a very perfect world. People will argue that looks are deceptive, that not all that glitters is gold. However, in the world of business and in real life, you buy or choose a service that looks good, don’t you?
Similarly, we all need to know basic grooming so we can dress to impress and understand power dressing and color psychology so that we can dress right. It is important to look presentable so that we can nail that interview, sell our ideas, and present ourselves in whatever way we want the world to perceive us. In addition, if we score on our soft skills by conversing well (verbally and non-verbally), then we are the complete package in the eyes of the world. So what is on the inside does count, but what is on the outside counts even more!
Wow. That was an eye-opener! How can people enroll in your finishing school?
We are based in Pune right now and our training is completely offline to develop personal relationships and enhance the joy of training. However, we are aware that everyone can’t be in Pune, so we are looking at distant training modules as well in the future. To register, drop us an email on motivationritvik01@gmail.com or call or Whatsapp on 7887808838. Our clients have the freedom of enrolling from their personal spaces. If it’s an organizational training, we will travel out of Pune for the same. For individual and other training, we are equipped to conduct our modules over Skype as well.

Sadly, image does matter a lot these days. Looking good is no longer only for celebrities and glamorous personalities. I learned this the hard way in the corporate world. Its not something I like but I have learned to adapt because it’s either that or you get overshadowed by the smartly dressed
I know what you mean, Chaitali. The corporate world can be ruthless and it loves its “power dressers”.
