It’s Monday morning, I’m back at my desk
The weekend’s been good, but I’ve forgotten how to cope
Got a lot to do and the manager’s been watching
How do I tell her that her glances are terrifying?
I freeze as she walks over to me
Next, my breath catches in my throat
She wants to know if the report is ready
I want to tell her ‘almost’, but I can’t, I choke
All I do is nod no and watch her walk away
Such a shame when anxiety gets my tongue
And I’m left looking like a slacker at work
So I open my email and try to make things right
By typing the things I should have said instead
Yes, I’m that weird coworker who’s painfully awkward
Thanks to brain fog and mental disquiet

I am trying to come out of this anxiety that often catches my tongue precisely when I should speak my mind. I so need to get out of it for good!
If you find a cure to that, please let me know, will you? Good luck!
Yes! As do you and so many of our generation. Anxiety is on the rise…
you know it!
